Expression per note

Pitch and timbre for every single note, through CLAP note expressions and MPE, as far as the host delivers them.

Framework expressionmidiinstruments

Abstract graphic: pitch tracks of a chord, one note bends in the top half, all of them in the bottom half

A chord does not have to move as a whole. With expression per note, every note gets its own pitch and timbre.

This works through CLAP note expressions and through MPE, as far as the host delivers them. Most of our instruments offer MPE. MIDI 2.0 is prepared but not yet connected all the way through.

Suitable instruments add a breath controller. Which options an instrument has depends on its kind.

The listening example plays the same chord twice with the same movement, only the route of the pitch differs, loudness matched. Before: a channel-wide pitch bend takes every note of the chord along. After: the pitch of a single string is bent through a CLAP note expression, the other notes stay where they are. In the second chord, too, only one note falls.
