PSOrvia
The common basis of all our plugins.
PSOrvia is the foundation we build every plugin on. It is not a product you buy; it is the reason our plugins belong together.
-
The same everywhere
Whether it is a piano or a compressor, controls, presets, windows and shortcuts behave the same way. Learn one plugin and you know the others.
-
Open formats
CLAP, VST3 and LV2 as plugins, plus a standalone program for Windows and Linux. macOS is in preparation.
-
Checked to the bit
Before delivery, every version is measured against stored references. If the sound changes unintentionally by even a single bit, that version does not go out.
-
Easy on your computer
Hidden editor windows do not draw, and displays rest while idle. This helps in projects with many instances.
-
Accessible by design
Fully operable by keyboard and usable with a screen reader. Text sizes and contrast follow clear minimums, and this is checked automatically.
-
Physics instead of samples
Many instruments are calculated rather than played back: strings, pipes, reeds, drum skins and rooms arise in real time from their physics.
Highlights
-
Undo with a visible history
The last steps are listed; one click returns to any of them.
-
A/B comparison
Set two settings against each other, in every plugin. Level matching keeps the louder one from winning (in selected plugins).
-
Parameter search
Search for controls and functions with Ctrl+F from any page and jump straight to them.
-
Simple view
A reduced view beside the full interface, in many instruments.
-
Scalable interface
The size is adjustable; text never below 13 px.
-
Expression: MPE and breath
In instruments: MPE in most of them, breath control in suitable instruments.
-
Practice tools
In the standalone program: metronome, recording, tuner, backing track, tempo and foot switch.
-
MIDI learn
Assign a controller to any knob with a right click.
-
Signed updates
The update check is signed, needs no account, sends no identifier and can be switched off.
Sound from physics
Our instruments do not play recordings back. They calculate how air, material and space shape a tone, and you can change all three.
-
The atmosphere is a control
Medium, temperature, humidity, altitude above sea level and the salt content of sea water change the speed of sound and with it pitch and tone, calculated from published formulas such as ISO 9613-1. Time of day, wind and breath add their own influence, and one project climate can be shared by several instruments.
In our physically modelled instruments.
-
Materials you can hear
Wood, metal, lacquer and age change how a body rings, how long it sustains and how bright it sounds. We offer a material choice only where it changes the sound, never as decoration.
Which materials are offered depends on the instrument.
-
A room of microphones
Place up to four microphones freely around the instrument: distance, angle, height, rotation and polar pattern. Ready-made setups are one click away: close pair, overhead, ORTF, binaural head and room.
In selected instruments.
Space and control
Where a sound sits, and how precisely you can shape it while you play.
-
Your own HRTF
For binaural listening, load a head-related transfer function in the SOFA format (AES69) instead of relying on a built-in model.
In selected plugins.
-
Expression per note
Pitch and timbre for every single note, through CLAP note expressions and MPE; MIDI 2.0 is prepared.
In our instruments.
-
Microtonality
Load Scala tunings (.scl) together with their key mapping (.kbm) and play Werckmeister, Bohlen-Pierce or your own scale.
In selected plugins.
-
Ambisonics and multichannel
Surround and Ambisonics buses are supported.
In selected plugins.
-
Controller profiles with MIDI monitor
Profiles for your hardware can be imported, exported and checked against a live view of the incoming MIDI events.
In our instruments.
-
Snapshots
Four snapshots to jump or blend between.
In selected plugins.
Thought through to the last detail
The things you only notice when they are missing, we built on purpose.
-
It explains itself
Every sound control has a help text and a tooltip, and a manual comes with it. A check script raises the alarm as soon as one is missing. All texts exist in 24 languages, and the interface follows your system language.
Checked automatically before each delivery.
-
Honest crash reports
A crash report never leaves quietly. Your mail program opens with the finished report: you see every line, you can change or delete it, and only your click on Send sends it. No audio, no project, no file names, no user name.
In the standalone program, only if you switch it on; currently on Linux.
-
Our own code
The user interface, the signal processing down to the FFT and the resampler, file formats, measurement tools and the installer are our own code on our own foundation, with no third-party framework in between.
Only a few open specialist components are built in, for example for text rendering, vector drawing, audio devices and audio file decoding.
-
Our own installer
Signed packages, repair, clean removal: it deletes exactly the files it put there itself.
-
Linux taken seriously
Our own PipeWire connection, plus ALSA, JACK and PulseAudio, and MIDI through the ALSA sequencer.
-
Large sound libraries
Big recordings are read from disk while they play, with round-robin and velocity layers.
